The Care Act introduces the most significant changes over the last 60 years. If you are a carer, receiving attendance allowance, disability allowance, personal payments then you really need to come along to the Ruth Winston Centre and listen to Michael Sprosson, Health Housing and Adult Social Care Team at Enfield Council to find out how it affects you. There will be a Q&A session after his talk.

A campaign has been launched in opposition to Enfield Council's plan to make money-saving changes to the operation of the Museum and Archive Services (see this earlier article).
'Enfield 229' or the "Unofficial Friends of Museum and Archive Services" have issued a four-page bulletin outlining their fears about the impact of the proposed changes. They accuse the Council of a lack of frankness about the proposals, in particular the failure to mention that four and a half experienced.......

Residents of Park Avenue (Palmers Green) and nearby streets are angry about the disgraceful and insanitary rubbish which has been left strewn on the ground in one of the mews alleys at the back of Green Lanes - the mews on the south side of Park Avenue. Neither the landlord, residents or council have made any attempt to clear up the mess, which has now been there for about a fortnight.
This alley and the one opposite are well known for their overflowing waste bins, but the problem now.......

In a letter published in last weekend's Observer, the Chairman of the Local Government Association makes a strong plea for the government to suspend its programme of reductions in funding of local government. Research carried out by the charity Leonard Cheshire Disability shows that Enfield Council is failing to fulfil its obligation to provide timely help to disabled people who need to make adjustments to their flats or houses.

Residents who want to dispose of unwanted electrical items or bulky furniture are being urged to take advantage for two free services Enfield Council is offering.
The services are being offered to encourage recycling, reduce fly tipping and promote the reuse of perfectly good electrical items that have been replaced or which are no longer wanted. Keeping House' is Enfield Council's innovative scheme for property owners living in long term residential care.

Enfield Council is consulting residents about proposals for a radical restructuring of its current library service. The changes are designed to reduce the costs of library services - Enfield is having to contend with a cut of £80 million in the amount of funding it receives from central government - through greater concentration of resources, while at the same time providing library services across the borough and modernising the types of service that are available.
