Following the announcement earlier this year that primary school children in London will receive free school meals, the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, in partnership with the Mayor’s Fund for London and the Felix Project, will be helping with emergency food provision during the school holidays.
Emergency funding of over £3m will provide essential support to local community organisations, serving free holiday and weekend meals to the Londoners who need it most. The programme will provide the equivalent of 10 million meals to London families over the next year. Provision will start in the upcoming Easter holidays 2023 and run until the end of March 2024, across all London boroughs.
The cost of living crisis has had an impact on the price of energy, food and bills. As more people are people pushed into poverty and homelessness, thousands of households in London are now unable to obtain an adequate and nutritious diet.
