If you haven't already decided who you're voting for and have a couple of hours to spare, you can watch the online environmental hustings that were held last month. Some candidates sent representatives - which rather suggests that environmental issues are low on their agenda. The debate starts 46 seconds into the recording.
The debate was preceded by this short video about the priorities of young Londoners.
Friends of the Earth have rated the four leading contenders. In response to the question "Who would be the most climate-friendly mayor for London?" they have rated policies as follows:
- Sian Berry - Green Party: 31
- Sadiq Khan - Labour: 27.5
- Luisa Porritt - LibDem: 18.5
- Shaun Bailey - Conservatives: 17
There are links to the environmental policies of most of the twenty candidates on this website.
You have two votes for mayoral candidates. The second vote will be used for the second round, which will be between the candidates who came first and second in the first round. This means that you can safely vote for a candidate who you don't think will be first or second. If you do so and your second vote is for one of the candidates in the second round, your second vote will be added to the votes that the candidate gained in the first round.
For the assembly members election there are two papers: the first to elect an assembly member for Enfield & Haringey; the second, for one of the parties, will be used to elect additional members from party lists so that the eventual outcome is proportionate to the number of votes cast for each party.
