Enfield Council consulted the Bowes Park area on proposals for a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) in summer 2018. A positive response was received overall and amendments have been made to the elements of the scheme that were less popular with residents. The Council aims to proceed with the scheme in spring 2019.
A formal consultation on these revised proposals runs from 24th January until 20th February. It offers residents the opportunity to confirm their support for the scheme or to submit formal objections.
The scheme would operate on roads to the west of Green Lanes as far as the railway line, ie up to and including Russell Road.
The council has responded to complaints that too much kerbside space was devoted to cycle hangars by reallocating half of them to conveniently located pavement buildouts. Communal-use kerbside space for parking, totalling 3.5km, would be allocated as follows:
- Resident bays: 97%
- Disabled bays: 2%
- Cycle, motorcycle and car club bays: 1%.
