[Green Lanes Business Association Survey]

Question 1.  What do think is good about the area?

good – variety of shops, good access on foot, generally area feels safe, has a “local” feel

Question 2.  What do you think is less good about the area?

Less good – too many bookmakers in a small area, litter and dumping and dirty streets especially close to shops, not enough refuse bins. Parking can be a problem

Question 3. What would you like to see to improve the area?

improve – limit the amount of bookmarkers and some types of shops ie late night fast food stores, provide bins, more street cleaning and raise awareness in local people of the benefits of clean streets

Question 4a. Specific aspects – traffic

Traffic – sometime young lads in quasi sports cars rat run in excessive speeds in green lanes. Certain areas less good ???? of  ??????

Traffic (hedge lane) – Yaser Halim causes problems - ??? ??? traffic controls needed there

Question 4b. Specific aspects – parking

Support s1/2 free parking

Would encourage use of town centre. I mostly walk but at times I won’t pop into shops on way back from work

Definitely not Sunday parking charges

Question 4c. Specific aspects – clutter

Clutter – haven’t noticed that

Question 4d. Specific aspects – look of the shops/architecture

Look of shops – some of the character has been eroded using modern shop fronts

Question 4e. Specific aspacts – type and range of shops

Type of shops – less rubbish shops (bookies and cheap merchandise stores. ??? ???? Waitrose would welcome butcher, fishmonger

Question 4f. Specific aspects – amount and use of pavement space

Pavements   -OK

Question 4g. Specific aspects – the Triangle public space

Triangle / clock tower- new tree please – I loved the big tree that was there – clock tower OK but needs to be Edwardian style, not modern style

Question 4h. Specific aspects – Greenery

Planters- more of these – they help to make a “village feel”

Any other comments

Other – palmers green lacks the character and village feel of Winchmore hill. It would be great to achieve a real community feel.
