[Green Lanes Business Association Survey]
Question 2. What do you think is less good about the area?
Less good – long streets of shops but no central focus point. Fast traffic on Aldermans hill.
Question 3. What would you like to see to improve the area?
Improve – 1. Slow down Aldermans hill traffic 2. Maybe some shrubs / trees at the triangle 3. Get rid of electronic noticeboard at the triangle
Question 4a. Specific aspects – traffic
Traffic – Aldermans hill, especially over railway line, traffic is too fast
Traffic (hedge lane) – pedestrian buttons to cross road with “green man” sign
Question 4b. Specific aspects – parking
Suggest 15min free parking might be good
This would not encourage more use of the town centre. I usually walk. But on occasions need to stop in car for something that takes 5 minutes
Does not support Sunday parking charges
Question 4c. Specific aspects – clutter
Clutter – seems to be rather a lot on pavement near Lloyds bank. Electronic sign on Aldermans hill outside “venture Photography” blocks view of bus from people in bus shelter
Question 4g. Specific aspects – the Triangle public space
Triangle. Clock tower – something like that is visually pleasing – get rid of toilets – wasted space – shrubbery ? seating ?
Question 4h. Specific aspects – Greenery
Planters – well looked after tubs might be good
Any other comments
Other – 15 mins free parking might be good for local shops who want to stop at a shop for one thing – eg to collect dry cleaning, buy a bunch of flowers
