Question 1. What do think is good about the area?

It has a community feel about it; Many of the shopkeepers even the main chain stores recognise the local community. The area is diverse in terms of class and race and this is a positive feature.

There are a variety of small shops in the area which means that local residents do not need to venture far to buy all their goods.

Question 2. What do you think is less good about the area?

There is a large number of youths in the area and this is a positive feature; however there are also groups of youths which gather around the corner of Mac Donalds and along the high Road. They seem intimidating as they often have large dogs with them. They are often swearing shouting and making comments to passers by.

In addition there are a few men gathering at the bottom of Lodge Drive and Hazelwood Lane. I have been informed by a young person that they have been offered drugs by this group.

There is also a gathering of small group 4-5 men who sit outside the side of the bank on Lodge Drive drinking alcohol.

Some of the shops in Palmers green are a bit run down which gives a bad impression of the area.

People coming back from the pub in the early hours of the morning. I have witnessed many fights and antisocial behaviour from people young and old. There people have no respect for the residents in their homes and the fact that it is late at night.

Question 3. What would you like to see to improve the area?

Signs up on the street “no drinking zone” (or whatever these signs say).

Local publicans and club owners to give out leaflets and to display leaflets stating that people need to consider the local residents and not to cause too much noise when going home or to their cars.

If possible put up signs regarding respecting local residents and antisocial behaviour not tolerated.

Local fast food stores to put up a sign in their restaurants to ask residents not to throw rubbish. Fast food stores particularly Macdonalds to put a rubbish bin further down Lodge Drive so that people can throw away their rubbish in a bin rather than on the pavement. Macdonalds to also to pick up the rubbish along Lodge drive (as they had given an undertaking to do this when they first set up their restaurant). This has not been happening.

Question 4a. Specific aspects – traffic

The traffic on Green Lanes in my opinion is not too bad however the traffic on the side streets can become congested. Particularly form Hazelwood Lane to the end leading to the A406.

Question 4b. Specific aspects – parking

Some Roads are busier than others which make it difficult for local residents. On the one side of Green lanes, along alderman’s Hill there are parking restrictions therefore all the commuters for the station and the shop workers park on the side streets such as Lodge Drive and Hazelwood Lane. This includes often partially blocking the drives and as these houses do not have wide driveways this is dangerous for getting out of the drives.

There should be cheaper and more affordable parking for people in order for people to use the car parks. Also consideration should be given to having permit holder restrictions on the Road coming off Green Lanes or even restrictions on certain times to the day such as there is on Old Park Road to stop people form parking there all day.

Question 4c. Specific aspects – clutter

More bins along the side roads would be useful to stop the road from being littered.

Question 4d. Specific aspects – look of the shops/architecture

The architecture of the buildings in my opinion is fine as it is in keeping with many of the houses in the area. Some of the shops however need refurbishing in my opinion.

Question 4e. Specific aspacts – type and range of shops

There are a variety of shops in the area. I cannot think of any other shops which will attract more people.

Question 4f. Specific aspects – amount and use of pavement space

It is nice to have some coffee shops with tables and chairs on the pavement as it gives the feel of a more comfortable environment, but I cannot comment on whether there is enough space to do this with there being adequate access for padestrians.

Question 4g. Specific aspects – the Triangle public space

It would be nice to have local bands, singing or general advertising without being pressurised. Applications should be made and this should be scrutinised to ensure that it does not become a political base and people feel uncomfortable or pressurised to sign petitions.

Question 4h. Specific aspects – Greenery

There were more flower planters in the past but these seem to have gone.

Any other comments

The car park behind the station is used for a Sunday Market occasionally. It would be better if there were more stalls offering more variety. The goods sold in the market seem too be expensive and does not attract as many people.
