Question 1. What do think is good about the area?

The parks, library and architecture of the buildings.

Question 2. What do you think is less good about the area?

The no of local shops that have closed down and been replaced by takeaways, charity and pound saver shops which has resulted in an increased level of rubbish in the streets in particular the high street and greatly reduced the community spirit I encountered when I moved here in 2000.

Question 3. What would you like to see to improve the area?

A return to local one off traders, no more land sold off to developers and more functions held in public areas to try to regain the sense of community spirit that has been lost.

The law to follow through when people have ignored things such as obtaining planning permission/abiding by planning regulations. If an extension/outbuilding does not comply then it should either be changed to comply or pulled down.

Question 4a. Specific aspects – traffic

Speed cameras should be erected on some of the minor roads, traffic can speed through these and there are doe as there are a number of elderly people and children.

The Cambridge Road underpass to be made safe, to be kept clear of drug users, gangs, alcoholics and rubbish.

Increased parking for shoppers using high street.

Question 4d. Specific aspects – look of the shops/architecture

Shop goods to be displayed in shop not on pavement, a return to local traders rather than the level of takeaways/cheap shops which should result in a cleaner area.

Question 4e. Specific aspacts – type and range of shops

A return to local one off traders i.e. butcher’s, haberdashers. Increased parking, financial incentive i.e. grants/reduced rates.

Question 4h. Specific aspects – Greenery

More greenery which would make the area look more welcoming and cared for.
