A new film with footage of Palmers Green is now out - and Talkies hasn't yet shown it. The film is a little wobbly - understandably, since the cameraman, Paul Smith, was filming while riding a bike from Enfield Town to Harringay along one of the proposed new improved cycle routes included in the "Mini-Holland/Cycle Enfield" scheme, to get a better idea of whether or not the proposed new cycle lanes are needed. Further information about how the Cycle Enfield project (formerly "Mini-Holland") will be implemented has been provided by Liam Mulrooney, the council officer who heads the Traffic, Road Safety and Parking Group in Enfield Council's Regeneration and Environment Department. In response to a Freedom of Information request, Enfield Council have provided drawings from late 2013 showing the concepts, at that time, for implementing cycle lanes along the Palmers Green and Winchmore Hill stretch of Green Lanes. As we reported in April on the basis of another document, the newly released material does show parking bays at various points along Green Lanes between Bourne Hill and the Triangle - on the eastern side only between Bourne Hill and Fox Lane and on both sides.......

"High Street parking might disappear under Mini-Holland Scheme!!!" is the headline on a leaflet issued by the Enfield Business and Retail Association (EBRA) and Green Lanes Business Association (GLBA), in which the two trade bodies warn that "It is highly likely that Pay and Display parking bays will be removed on both sides of the High Streets outside the local shops".
