The Enfield Society and Enfield Council are planning a project to review Enfield’s local heritage list and are looking for volunteers to help. The local listing replaced the old Grade III listing which ceased to be continued in 1974.

Enfield has a list of buildings and features of special architectural or historic interest on its website. However, this is out of date and needs complete revision. The Enfield Society is working with Enfield Council to help to do this. Consultants are developing selection criteria and will organise training for volunteers who will have a role in surveying all Enfield Streets and parks looking for features which meet the revised criteria, completing recording forms and taking photos.

Training is being arranged for the evening of 14 July and the morning of 15 July, and 4 September at Jubilee Hall in Parsonage Lane. More information will be available soon, and I will post this on PGC when it’s ready.

If you are interested in taking part in the project or have particular ideas you want to put forward then please contact Janet McQueen or Val Munday of the Enfield Society on the Jubilee Hall phone (020) 8363 9495, email .

I think this would be well worth getting involved in.

While we admire and support the Christmas campaigns that we see pop up in December, we also know that help is urgently needed all year round, each and every year. As some people pack away after the festive break, we are still here.

Our support is not limited to a food package, but it leaps beyond - we form connections, we listen and respond to everyone who steps through our doors. We open up a warm, safe, environment which aims to feel like a home away from home.

For us to continue to thrive and grow, and keep supporting as many people as possible, we are asking you to become a Friend of Cooking Champions. Even a donation of just £5-10 per month can make a HUGE impact on the lives of those who come through our doors.

Pop to our People's Fundraising page to donate, and we promise to keep you updated with how your support is making a difference. Thank you, we appreciate you! Team Cooking Champions
