While we admire and support the Christmas campaigns that we see pop up in December, we also know that help is urgently needed all year round, each and every year. As some people pack away after the festive break, we are still here.
Our support is not limited to a food package, but it leaps beyond - we form connections, we listen and respond to everyone who steps through our doors. We open up a warm, safe, environment which aims to feel like a home away from home.
For us to continue to thrive and grow, and keep supporting as many people as possible, we are asking you to become a Friend of Cooking Champions. Even a donation of just £5-10 per month can make a HUGE impact on the lives of those who come through our doors.
Pop to our People's Fundraising page to donate, and we promise to keep you updated with how your support is making a difference. Thank you, we appreciate you! Team Cooking Champions

The size of Saturday's well organised and well behaved march shows what was already clear - that there is substantial opposition to the Fox Lane scheme, though it proves nothing about the overall balance of opinion among residents or about whether on balance the effects of the LTN are beneficial or harmful. It's also clear that there is a widespread view that Enfield Council is not listening to people's complaints about the LTN. Instead of just saying that all comments will be taken into account, the council would do well to be more ready to acknowledge people's genuine concerns, and to engage more readily about potential ways of mitigating problems.
Public health experts are sounding the alarm that the current Health and Care Bill is likely to be the nail in the coffin for our public health service. They are warning that the Bill will pave the way for the English NHS to be replaced by the profit-driven American system, in which private health providers are incentivised to cut and deny care to increase profits.
Last week the newsletter featured a pupil at Bowes school pleading for decisive climate action. This week a scientist explains why it's time for her and her colleagues to drop their gentle and unemotional approach and start to put across the urgency of action forcefully.
A new community hub at Firs Farm Wetlands and improved equipment in Tottenhall Rec are among the projects that will be benefiting from the first round of the Enfield Neighbourhood Fund.
Enfield Council is proposing to create 'plazas' in Palmers Green and Enfield Town with the aim of providing outdoor trading opportunities for businesses, encouraging 'café culture' in the two town centres and creating a space for children to play and for community and cultural events
The latest newsletter from Southgate District Civic Voice has some brief information about Christmas events in the borough's town centres and a Christmas Fair in Southgate
A newspaper article has a photograph of the interior of St John's Church in Palmers Green piled high with boxes containing donations for Afghan refugees to this country. The church is continuing to provide meals to the hungry - more than 450 a week.
Overstretched local councils provide the safety net in our broken renting system. They step in when private renting fails to protect renters who are unfairly evicted from their homes, faced with homelessness or living in dangerous conditions. A register would help councils better enforce the law when things go wrong.
Transport for London's parlous financial situation, brought on by a pandemic-induced catastrophic fall off in fares revenue, not only threatens big cuts to tube and bus services . Unless an adequate long-term solution is found, in place of the grudgingly given six-month government gap-plugging deals, the outcome will be even worse congestion on the roads than we are already experiencing, and other impacts affecting not just London. Anyone interested in London's future should read this important article by the chief executive of the Centre for London thinktank.
