While we admire and support the Christmas campaigns that we see pop up in December, we also know that help is urgently needed all year round, each and every year. As some people pack away after the festive break, we are still here.
Our support is not limited to a food package, but it leaps beyond - we form connections, we listen and respond to everyone who steps through our doors. We open up a warm, safe, environment which aims to feel like a home away from home.
For us to continue to thrive and grow, and keep supporting as many people as possible, we are asking you to become a Friend of Cooking Champions. Even a donation of just £5-10 per month can make a HUGE impact on the lives of those who come through our doors.
Pop to our People's Fundraising page to donate, and we promise to keep you updated with how your support is making a difference. Thank you, we appreciate you! Team Cooking Champions

Enfield Council is consulting residents about its proposals to reduce the number of children's centres. Like other council services, spending reductions are required because of severe reductions in central government funding. The council's budget for children's centres is reducing from £1.6m to £1.03m per year.
The proposal is to reduce the number of children's centres hubs from four to one. The single hub would have "satellites" at schools throughout the borough.

The chairs of four out of five Healthwatch bodies in North Central London, including the chair of Healthwatch Enfield, have written a strongly worded letter to the Secretary of State for Health complaining about the scale of cuts to local NHS services being planned and the secrecy with which the planning work is being carried out. They say that they consider the proposed cuts a "threat to patient safety". In fact, they believe that patient safety in their boroughs is already being.......
Patients attending meetings at Park Lodge Medical Centre in Old Park Road have been briefed about plans to transfer all its services to a surgery in Winchmore Hill, probably in late 2017. The GP partners from Winchmore Hill Practice, who are now also the partners at Park Lodge, have provided PGC with a document giving answers to questions which they have received from patients at meetings (see the box at the end of this article)Winchmore Hill Practice is housed in modern purpose-built premises.......

Park Lodge Medical Centre in Old Park Road is to close and its services will be transferred to the Winchmore Hill Practice (located at 808 Green Lanes and also known as the Green Lanes Surgery). Patients registered at Park Lodge can be seen at Green Lanes or opt to transfer to a different practice.
The closure date is not yet known, but patients (and carers) at both practices are being invited to "stakeholder meetings", to be held at Green Lanes on Thursday 29th June at 7pm and at Park Lodge on.......
No way out. The newly installed gate at Palmers Green station is a serious impediment to anyone with a heavy load or who has difficulty climbing stairs
On the Sunday before last I arrived at Palmers Green station after a couple of weeks away. I had with me a very heavy suitcase, but was easily able to pull it up the three small steps between Platform 2 and the car park and then wheel it home. If I had returned one day later, I would have been in trouble, because the gate to the car.......
The Friends of Firs Farm are using the crowdfunding website Spacehive to raise money to set up a Community Hub and Dementia Cafe. The cafe would act as a space where the community, including people with dementia or autism, could come together in an inviting and welcoming environment - a welcome safe space, with memory stimulation, and somewhere to, in the words of Alzheimer's Café founder, Dr. Bere Miesen, "just be".
The project would cost £66.232. Some council funding.......
This year the Palmers Green Festival organisers are planning to use the former bowling green in Broomfield Park to stage "Classics on the Green" - an afternoon of local musicians playing classical music.
This innovation will depend on finding a local volunteer who would put together a line-up of locally based musicians. They would be supported by the Festival Team, but would be responsible for administering and stage managing on the day.
If you are local, have a few hours a month and are.......
With the new Chase Farm Hospital on the horizon, children’s services on the site will be changing following a consultation and evaluation about how and when they are used. This work has been led by Enfield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and will see changes to the way paediatric urgent care is delivered to best meet the needs of local children.
A document leaked to the Guardian newspaper has revealed the "devastating" scale of cuts that are being proposed for NHS services in the five North Central London boroughs - Enfield, Barnet, Haringey, Camden and Islington.
