Finding the Poem Set 2 with Paul Lyalls (April)

This is a course for anyone who wants to liberate their creativity and immerse themselves in the joy of language. Playful, fun, entertaining, enlightening – explore your word power. A note to prose writers: have you ever wondered what it is like to write in the poetic form? Free your writing through poetry.

Enjoy this set of 6 workshops, one of 3 separate sets which can be taken in any order.

Life Writing and Memoir Workshop with Giovanna Lozzi

Over 6 weeks, we will investigate what is meant by a strong voice in memoir and understand how stylistic devices like dialogue, scene building, setting description, and suspense creates a vivid world the reader can disappear inside. This course is for people who have done a previous course at Collage Writing Room with Giovanna, or who are some way into a life writing project. All levels welcome.

Prioritise Your Writing with Alison Chandler (April)

This workshop-based course is ideal if you want to make major headway with your writing project whether you’re working on a novel, a memoir or a short story collection. Our classes are small and each session is bespoke, tailored to participants’ specific goals.

If you’re ready to take a leap forward with your project in great company, we’d love to hear from you. And if you’re a regular, you know you’re always welcome back to take your work to the next stage.

Meet the Agent! Talk with Sara Langham of David Higham Associates

During this friendly session Sara will speak about the work of a literary agency and role of a literary agent. She will discuss the submission process, how to prepare your work for submission and how to get it noticed by an agent. There will be the opportunity to introduce your own work and plenty of time for questions so do come ready to give a brief summary of your current project, and with any questions you would like to ask.

Introduction to Life Writing and Memoir with Giovanna Iozzi

This course is designed for people who are new to life writing and memoir, but previous or experienced students are welcome if they would like to keep going with their projects and are happy to refresh the principles.

Over 6 weeks, we will explore the concept of writing from life – whether from our own lives or the real lives of others – looking at all the forms we can use to write the stories we want to tell. You can progress to Life Writing & Memoir Workshop in the Autumn term.

Novella Fever with Kiare Ladner

In six weeks, we will aim to start (or finish) drafting a novella. What you work on may be only slightly longer than a short story or slightly shorter than a novel. You may have an idea to explore, or a short story that’s growing, or something resembling a novel in progress. In intensive weekly sessions we will workshop both writing and story ideas. All levels welcome.

Explore Creative Writing Set 1 with Sonia Lambert

This course is great for beginners, and also for writers at any level who wish to generate lots of new ideas and material. This fun and playful course will use different creative writing exercises and prompts to get you working, in a friendly and supportive environment. We will set out from a new starting point each week, and experiment with different techniques and ways into prose writing.
