The Ruth Winston Community Centre celebrated its 62nd birthday today - it launched on 7th March 1961 as the Southgate Old People’s Welfare Committee. Its current name, and that of the building that houses it, commemorates Southgate's first woman mayor, who used her mayoral year to raise the funds to buy the large house at 190 Green Lanes.New activities at the Ruth Winston Community Centre
