A hunt has been launched for people with ideas of how to make the borough a better place, who may be wondering how to make their dreams a reality.
Residents are being urged to take their brilliant plans to the first Enfield crowdfunding event on June 16 between 6pm - 8pm at the Enfield Art Café, 29-30 The Town, Enfield, to share ideas and learn more about how crowdfunding through Spacehive could help them raise money for their project.
Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration and Business Development, Cllr Alan Sitkin, said: “The truly brilliant thing about Spacehive is that regardless of what you have in mind – whether its renovating an old building, providing classes or events for the community to enjoy or create something completely new and exciting, it helps people attract support for distinctive, exciting and accessible projects that really make a difference in the community.
“I’d thoroughly recommend residents who are passionate about an idea or concept, attend this event, bounce their ideas off other entrepreneurs and like minded people and see how their dreams can potentially be turned into a reality.”
The event is open to all Enfield residents and community organisations, but places are limited so Enfield Council recommends booking early to ensure you get a space. Places can be booked online.
Spacehive, the world’s first civic crowdfunding platform, aims to democratize the way we shape towns and cities by allowing anyone to create and fund civic projects online.
It works by providing tools that help people develop their ideas, get noticed by crowds of people, companies, councils, and the media, and attract funding to make great projects happen.
Since its 2012 launch, Spacehive has helped fund 176 projects across the UK worth over £4.9m. Successes include public wi-fi in Mansfield, an urban farm in London, a motorway flyover re-imagined as a “sky park” in Liverpool, and a giant waterslide on Bristol’s high street.
