As reported by Enfield Dispatch, a document prepared by council officers for the leader of Enfield Council recommends that she approve proceeding with the controversial plan to lease the former golf course at Whitewebbs to Tottenham Hotspur Ltd for a period of 25 years. The decision comes despite the large number of objections to the plan received from borough residents and the threat of legal action from the Friends of Whitewebbs Park and green belt defenders CPRE London and Enfield RoadWatch.

The arguments in favour of proceeding with leasing out the land, conditional on an agreement for lease and Spurs obtaining planning permission for their intended changes, are set out in a report, Decision to Lease Land at Whitewebbs Park Golf Course, dated 23rd June. It includes a section analysing and responding to the 788 objections received by the council.

Friends of Whitewebbs Park have republished the report on their website, adding annotations by their chair, Sean Wilkinson.

The public document pack relating to the decision includes an appendix with a more detailed analysis of the objections.

On 10th June Friends of Whitewebbs Park reported that their crowdfunding appeal had successfully reached the £18,000 target only 15 days after its launch. If they do decide to apply for a judicial review of the council's decision, further crowdfunding will be required.
