Enfield Council ineffective on refuse

There is a house, 4 Bourne Hill, that has been converted into 8 bedsits by the landlord.

They have one wheelie bin and two commercial bins.

One commercial bin and wheelie bin are more often than not left out on the pavement all week.

One of the commercial bins remains on the premises overflowing with waste. Quite often there is refuse and lots of soiled nappies all over the front area of this house.

I have complained to Enfield council many times about this and they have now started to ignore me.

If the private landlord gets to pocket eight lots of rent every month shouldn't he take responsibility to the refuse arrangements? Winchmore Hill ward councillors do not to think this is an issue. However if I left the front of my house like this and didn't bring my wheelie bin in they would come down on me like a ton of bricks.

Maybe the private landlord is in some way connected with the Winchmore Hill councillors?

Who knows.

I do not know why I am posting this. Boycott bringing my bins in? Just chuck it all out on the pavement.

Anyway, if you are in Winchmore Hill Ward I urge you not to vote for the current incumbents because they do nothing and treat us with contempt.

I went past the house this evening and things were as described by Andrew. An overflowing commercial bin in the front "garden", another commercial bin and normal wheelie bin on the pavement. What's more, this once fine house has been turned into a serious eyesore. There are rampant weeds growing out of the broken fence. See the photos taken today:

This type of uglification and poor hygiene seems to me to be an example of the type of anti-social behaviour associated with private landlords that has prompted Enfield Council to introduce compulsory registration of private lettings so that they can take action against landlords who don't take proper care of their properties and think about the effect on neighbours.

The complacency of Wnchmore Hill councillors is very disappointing, but seems consistent with the Conservative Group's policy on registration of landlords - their policy is to oppose registration - see the Enfield Conservatives' website .

I don't think the Winchmore Hill ward councillors will do anything until they get back in. They didn't get my vote this morning.

I have been complaining about this for two years. The council occasionally get back to me and say "The bin's back on the premises, that's that sorted!" But it is back out on the street after the next collection day.

I took these last night.

Andrew

PS In my opinion this property was less of a problem when it was a squat.

This property (4 Bourne Hill) is degenerating back to its natural state.

I do not know why Enfield Council cannot fine the Landlord. Any landlord should have a responsibility to the local community.

It is a real blight on the area. Bad enough with the litter, high speed cars and multiple car washes.

But as a council official once said to me, "There are much worse parts of Enfield, Mr Nix".
