Come to the Forum meeting at Beaumont Care Home, Cannon Hill, Southgate, Tuesday 15 August, 10am for 10.30 start. It is almost opposite the Cherry Tree pub.
Our Enfield NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) - the people who decide if, when and how we are treated for medical problems - plan to save money by forcing all patients to wait longer for medical attention.
Of all the CCGs in London, Enfield has been selected as the trail-blazer, the pace-setter, for what the local health bosses call Adherence to Evidence Based Medicine (AEBM). This is a smokescreen for raising the bar or threshold before your GP in future will be able to refer you to hospital or to a consultant.
If your knees are playing up you will have to prove the pain is so fierce you can’t sleep at night - or you are so immobile you are in danger of losing your independence. If you currently have mild or moderate hearing loss you will not be eligible for an NHS hearing aid - and if you now have them they will not be replaced on your next check-up.
Plenty of people and organisations have rejected the AEBM proposals, but the final decision will be taken by the CCG Governing Body on Wednesday September 20.
Bambos Charalambous, the new MP for Enfield Southgate, will be among the speakers at the Forum’s Beaumont Care Home meeting on Tuesday 15 August. It is being held to determine our response to this blatant threat to NHS care for all Enfield residents. Your views are important to us, so please come along.
Monty Meth is President or the Enfield Over 50s Forum. Vivien Giladi is the Forum's Health Lead. The meeting is open to people of all ages.
