SDCV Annual General Meeting will be followed by a talk by Adrian Day about the Palmers Green Heritage Trail
All welcome. Entry £5 (SDCV members free).
Andrian Day takes us on a virtual heritage tour of Palmers Green
The talk will be based on the Heritage Trail I wrote for the the Enfield Society.
Palmers Green is a 'textbook' example of an Edwardian suburb, with a surprising number of listed and locally-listed buildings.
Hear about the wartime decontamination shelter; the house where the Lord Mayor of London hosted the Prince Regent together with royalty from Russia, France and Prussia; and the church designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott's son. And of course the famous triple-decker Knight Bus from Harry Potter.
Later in the month, on May 31st, I'll be leading a group on the actual walk as part of Enfield Council's 'Unlocking Broomfield Park' project (more details to follow).
