Incognito Theatre presents A Streetcar Named Desire

Sunday 8 December until Saturday 14 December

Incognito Theatre, Holly Park Road, Friern Barnet, N11 3HB

202409 home im darling

Written by Tennessee Williams and directed by Alice Gill-Carey

Tennessee Williams' timeless American masterpiece, A StreetCar Named Desire, tells the struggle of a woman, Blanche DuBois, who is clinging desperately to her past identity and seeks refuge with her sister Stella and her immigrant husband Stanley in the gritty city of New Orleans.

Her arrival sets off a relentless chain of events and explores the fragile balance between illusion and reality. Truth and lies. As the tension between Blanch, her brother-in-law, and her sister mounts. The brutal reality of the situation unravels. Blanch like a fragile moth attracted to the light self-destructs. The issues of belonging, family, sibling rivalry, jealousy, addictions, mental health, sexuality and societal expectations were as relevant in the 1940s as they are today.

'Streetcar is like a cry of pain' - Arthur Miller.

The running time is approximately 2 hours 45 minutes including a 15 minute interval.

This amateur production of "A Streetcar Named Desire" is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd. on behalf of Samuel French Ltd. www.concordtheatricals.co.uk.

While we admire and support the Christmas campaigns that we see pop up in December, we also know that help is urgently needed all year round, each and every year. As some people pack away after the festive break, we are still here.

Our support is not limited to a food package, but it leaps beyond - we form connections, we listen and respond to everyone who steps through our doors. We open up a warm, safe, environment which aims to feel like a home away from home.

For us to continue to thrive and grow, and keep supporting as many people as possible, we are asking you to become a Friend of Cooking Champions. Even a donation of just £5-10 per month can make a HUGE impact on the lives of those who come through our doors.

Pop to our People's Fundraising page to donate, and we promise to keep you updated with how your support is making a difference. Thank you, we appreciate you! Team Cooking Champions
