We have a guest speaker, Jeremy Leach, from London Living Streets and 20s Plenty to talk us through what the next steps could be for Enfield becoming much more of a 20mph borough.

Reducing road danger by lowering vehicle speeds tends to get a much higher profile than other reasons to move to 20mph. Reducing noise, emissions, costs, improving air quality and encouraging walking and cycling are also good reasons to make the change.

There are more 20mph roads than used to be the case in Enfield, but at 28% we are well behind the London average of 70%.

It is an open meeting. You don't have to be a big fan of 20mph to attend, but we do ask that you are interested in learning more about the topic and how it could work in Enfield.

If you have made your mind up already that you don't want more 20mph roads, please don't take a ticket. We ask for respectful attendance for the benefit of everyone. We reserve the right to decline entry.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions.

The meeting also marks the launch of Enfield's Living Streets group.

The link to join the meeting will be sent ahead 24 hours before the event.

Frequently asked questions

How does Enfield compare to other London boroughs?

Enfield has a low percentage of 20mph roads compared to most other boroughs. If you want to know more about this, and how it compares to many other areas, go to https://www.healthystreetsscorecard.london/results/

Does Better Streets for Enfield want every single road in Enfield to be 20mph?

No. We have parts of the north circular and the M25 going through the borough, and it's not practical. There may also be some roads in the less populated parts where it isn't practicable but they are the exception.

Do I need to be a member of the Better Streets for Enfield facebook group to attend?

No, but we do welcome new people to the group. Please click here to join - https://www.facebook.com/groups/1491332947831990

Do I need to support 20mph and Better Streets for Enfield's campaign aims to attend?

No. All we ask is that you are curious about the topic. We are a campaigning group, and 20mph has long been one of our aims. But there are some aspects of what we campaign for that may interest you more than others. You do not have to agree with it all.

Will it be recorded?

That is the aim, and by joining you consent to being recorded. We aim to have it available for others to see within a few days of the meeting.

Do I need to put my camera on?

It's preferable, but not strictly necessary. If you want to ask a question we would request that you do so in the Q&A section?

What are the benefits of 20mph?

Please join the session to find out!

While we admire and support the Christmas campaigns that we see pop up in December, we also know that help is urgently needed all year round, each and every year. As some people pack away after the festive break, we are still here.

Our support is not limited to a food package, but it leaps beyond - we form connections, we listen and respond to everyone who steps through our doors. We open up a warm, safe, environment which aims to feel like a home away from home.

For us to continue to thrive and grow, and keep supporting as many people as possible, we are asking you to become a Friend of Cooking Champions. Even a donation of just £5-10 per month can make a HUGE impact on the lives of those who come through our doors.

Pop to our People's Fundraising page to donate, and we promise to keep you updated with how your support is making a difference. Thank you, we appreciate you! Team Cooking Champions
