Community Walk and Talk

Sunday 13 October 10.45am - 2.00pm

Southgate Station - Grovelands Park - Oakwood Park - Southgate Station

202410 community walk and talk

Better Streets for Enfield invite you to a Community Walk and Talk

The walk will offer a chance to share with others what you enjoy about walking in Enfield – and what you think could be improved to make everyday walking safer and more pleasant.

The circular walk will proceed from Southgate station into Grovelands Park and then on to Oakwood Park, stopping at the Oakwood Park Café, where light refreshments will be provided – or you can buy a more substantial lunch from its menu. We will then return to Southgate Station, or you are free to make your own way back.

There are toilet facilities at commercial premises near Southgate Tube (e.g. Café Nero) and at Oakwood Park Café.

The surfaces will be mostly pavement and path, and for a short time woodland and duckboards: no special walking equipment is required, other than comfortable shoes, but you are welcome to bring, e.g., Nordic walking poles or any other aids, as you wish. The terrain is mostly level or gentle ascents/descents. The pace will be relaxed.

The owners of the Oakwood Park Café will be able to inform walkers about the facilities they offer, e.g. free bike hire, for any future visits to the park.

Dogs on leads are welcome.

While we admire and support the Christmas campaigns that we see pop up in December, we also know that help is urgently needed all year round, each and every year. As some people pack away after the festive break, we are still here.

Our support is not limited to a food package, but it leaps beyond - we form connections, we listen and respond to everyone who steps through our doors. We open up a warm, safe, environment which aims to feel like a home away from home.

For us to continue to thrive and grow, and keep supporting as many people as possible, we are asking you to become a Friend of Cooking Champions. Even a donation of just £5-10 per month can make a HUGE impact on the lives of those who come through our doors.

Pop to our People's Fundraising page to donate, and we promise to keep you updated with how your support is making a difference. Thank you, we appreciate you! Team Cooking Champions
