Open House Festival: Gordon Hill Station wartime pillbox and dragon's teeth

Sunday 22 September 11.00am - 12.00pm, 1.00pm - 2.00pm

Gordon Hill Station

202409 gordon hill pillbox open house

Gordon Hill pillbox and anti-tank ‘dragon’s teeth’ are one of the few remaining examples of World War II defences that once surrounded London, built to defend against an expected German invasion in 1940. Artist Joe Robinson of Snapshot Heritage, and John Cole of the Enfield Society, are hosting a drop-in day looking at Pillbox and early war in Enfield.

The session will be staged in the station, before visitors are escorted across the road to visit the pillbox and dragon’s teeth. There will also be a creative experiment to make a small replica of the pillbox, using the same casting process as the original in concrete.

This event is part of Enfield Creatives’ Collection.

This co curated Collection has been made possible with support from the Enfield Society and UKSP funding.

While we admire and support the Christmas campaigns that we see pop up in December, we also know that help is urgently needed all year round, each and every year. As some people pack away after the festive break, we are still here.

Our support is not limited to a food package, but it leaps beyond - we form connections, we listen and respond to everyone who steps through our doors. We open up a warm, safe, environment which aims to feel like a home away from home.

For us to continue to thrive and grow, and keep supporting as many people as possible, we are asking you to become a Friend of Cooking Champions. Even a donation of just £5-10 per month can make a HUGE impact on the lives of those who come through our doors.

Pop to our People's Fundraising page to donate, and we promise to keep you updated with how your support is making a difference. Thank you, we appreciate you! Team Cooking Champions
