Concert in aid of Maxability: Sam Kelly and Jamie Francis
Saturday 21 September 7.30pm
19 Greenacre Walk N14 7DB
Multi-award-winning folk musicians Sam Kelly and Jamie Francis first met at university in Brighton in 2010 and started performing around Brighton as a duo, playing folk and blues songs. They have since become two of the most respected and innovative musicians on the British folk scene, and they are the main songwriting partnership behind the hit folk band Sam Kelly and the Lost Boys.
They are both successful musicians in their own right — Sam plays guitar in Kate Rusby's band and works as a record producer and Jamie is known as one of the UK's foremost banjo players, having published a book and multiple online lessons for the legendary US company Deering Banjos.
Expect to hear traditional folk music from the British Isles and USA, with barnstorming instrumental performances of Irish jigs and reels, tender folk ballads, as well as original material from both artists as they work on a brand-new duo album due for release later this year. An evening of most pleasurable musical entertainment is guaranteed!
