NEW DATE: Untold Edmonton: Research and stories from the Girls' Charity School

Thursday 4 April 6.30pm - 8.00pm

Fore Street Library (Living Room Library), 109 - 111 Fore St N18 2XF

202304 untold edmonton charity school eventCommunity researchers have been investigating aspects of the history of the Girls’ Charity School on Church Street and the area - looking at the history of charity schools, what the girls were taught, what they wore, tracing some in later life, and the context of Church Street and the growth of Edmonton since the 18th century.

This is part of the project to give the former school a new life. The London Historic Buildings Trust (in partnership with Learning for Life Charity), aims to give the school a new life, going back to its origins helping young people into life and work, creating a meeting and learning space with a cafe alongside.

This development work is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the Architectural Heritage Fund. The research will help shape interpretation on and off site and add to assessment of the site’s significance.

In the evening some of the researchers will tell and show what they have uncovered.

An Untold Edmonton event.

Booking is preferred but you can also just show up on the day. Email to book a place.

While we admire and support the Christmas campaigns that we see pop up in December, we also know that help is urgently needed all year round, each and every year. As some people pack away after the festive break, we are still here.

Our support is not limited to a food package, but it leaps beyond - we form connections, we listen and respond to everyone who steps through our doors. We open up a warm, safe, environment which aims to feel like a home away from home.

For us to continue to thrive and grow, and keep supporting as many people as possible, we are asking you to become a Friend of Cooking Champions. Even a donation of just £5-10 per month can make a HUGE impact on the lives of those who come through our doors.

Pop to our People's Fundraising page to donate, and we promise to keep you updated with how your support is making a difference. Thank you, we appreciate you! Team Cooking Champions
