Local environmentalist groups are running two online workshops designed to enable participants to deploy a climate model to be used to support local climate action.
Enfield Climate Action Forum (EnCAF) is joining forces with Enfield & The Barnets United Nations Association to provide training in the deployment of the En-ROADS climate model, which was developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is used world-wide. The workshops will be presented by Ali Hessami, an expert on risk assessment and a champion of the En-Roads model.
En-ROADS is a global climate simulator that allows users to explore the impact that dozens of policies—such as electrifying transport, pricing carbon, and improving agricultural practices—have on hundreds of factors like energy prices, temperature, air quality, and sea level rise.
Workshop 1: Introductory session
19th July at 7pm
Purpose: introducing the En-ROADS climate model, the structure and its six principal parameter classes.
Outcome: understanding of the nature, role, structure and utility of global temperature rise forecasting model in potentially tackling the climate change actions locally.

Workshop 2: Introductory session
25th July at 7pm
Purpose: the follow up to the introductory session, exploring the six principal parameter classes for pragmatic local action.
Outcome: identification of policies, initiatives and citizen actions that can make a positive contribution to stemming the global temperature rise and enhancing local preparedness and resilience.
