In September Barnet-based Noah's Ark Children's Hospice won an Investing in Volunteers award from the UK Volunteering Forum (UKVF) in recognition of its excellence in managing and developing its pool of 163 volunteers.
With poverty still a serious problem both nationally and locally, two Enfield-based charities are seeking volunteers to help distribute food to the hungry.
As Cooking Champions celebrate two years of their community kitchen, the Enfield-based charity has launched a winter fundraising appeal aimed at raising £10,000 to support its work feeding the hungry and helping people in the borough prepare their own affordable nutritious meals.
17th August sees the start of a hunt for giant owl sculptures dotted around north London, along with smaller ones decorated by schools and community groups. All in aid of that wonderful charity, North London Hospice!
Andy Dawson, a volunteer at Bounds Green Food Bank, has been preparing for a sponsored climb of Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for the charity, which has recently been struggling financially and has had to cut back the services it provides to more than a thousand residents.

If a wedding is on the horizon and you're on the look for a dress, you might be able to pick up a bargain, in as new condition, this week, and at the same time support one of north London's most important charities.
The North London Hospice shop in Winchmore Hill will be selling wedding dresses on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (15-17 February) from 6.00pm to 9.30pm. All wedding dresses have kindly been donated in BRAND NEW condition.
The shop is at 743 Green Lanes N21 3RX.
