The line between Finsbury Park and Moorgate will be one of the first parts of the UK rail network to be converted to a new signalling system, but this will require five weekend closures this summer, starting this coming Saturday and Sunday, when trains will be diverted into Kings Cross. The upgrade will make it technically possible to run more trains on the line, but radical timetable improvements are probably a long way off - it looks like we will have to wait until May next year just to have our previous four trains an hour offpeak service restored.
The statutory consultation period for phase 1 of the Connaught Gardens Quieter Neighbourhood scheme ended last week, on 14th June, but this week Enfield Council has launched a less formal 'engagement survey', which will run until Sunday 11th July.
Enfield's Cabinet has agreed to prolong the trial of the low-traffic neighbourhood scheme in the Bowes Primary Quieter Neighbourhood. An interim report on the progress of the scheme was prepared for the meeting and can be viewed online, along with annexes presenting information about consultation feedback and other data collected during monitoring of the scheme. Cooperation with Haringey Council, who are creating an adjoining LTN, may lead to an alternative design that could provide a better solution for both Enfield and Haringey

Leaders of the StopPGMerkurSlots campaign have expressed anger and disappointment after Enfield Council cancelled the review, scheduled for this morning, into the granting of a licence for a 24-hour slot-machine arcade in the centre of Palmers Green. The council's change of mind came about after it received a legal challenge and was advised that it could not be confident of defending the challenge and that there might be 'financial consequences'
