The latest Palmers Green Tales short film, made by Jenny Bourke and Susan Mehmet, tells the story of Old Bakery Gin. It's filmed at the former flour store in Pymmes Mews which plumber Ian Puddick discovered had been an illegal distillery in Victorian times.
As well as the high-end stockists mentioned in the film, Old Bakery Gin is now available in some local venues, including My Time in Palmers Green and the Winchmore in Winchmore Hill Road.

The war memorial in Broomfield Park dates from 1929 and has some unique features. It is currently closed for restoration but was opened temporarily for last week's service.Did you know that there are at least 116 war memorials in Enfield?
War memorials can be found in schools, places of worship, clubs and work places. They come in a variety of forms, such as:
the memorial to the Men of Edmonton, now standing on the busy roundabout at Edmonton Green;
the lychgate at St Stephens.......
In the run-up to this year's general election, a group of local parents organised a demonstration and march protesting about planning cuts to funding for schools - who knows, it may even have influenced the way the voting went in Enfield Southgate.
The group behind the march - Fair Funding for All Schools-Enfield - continue to campaign, as do parents throughout the country. They've produced a new video and issued a press release - see below.

Following a public consultation earlier this year about proposals to change the charging formula for providing adult social care, Enfield Council has decided not to implement any changes at present. Instead it will "take a longer and more in depth look at how best to ensure fairness in our charging policy and use of resources".
The changes that the council was consulting on would have affected people who require overnight care, for some of whom the charges made by the council would.......

The Friends of the Lakes Estate Conservation Area have submitted an objection to the planning application by Star Pubs and Bars and the Lateral Property Group to redevelop the Fox pub and its car park. This follows a few days after an objection was submitted by Talkies Community Cinema.
