Starting on 24th July free food will be available from St John's Parish Centre on Fridays. St Monica's Catholic Church continues to distribute free food on Monday afternoons.

As of 6th July Barrowell Green recycling centre has been accepting a wider range of items for recycling or disposal. It remains obligatory to have an appointment and there is still no pedestrian access.
Overnight on Sunday/Monday this week a thousand posters popped up around London and other parts of the country, encouraging people to ditch the car and walk, scoot or cycle instead when schools resume in September. The posters had been sent out in secret to supporters by the clean air campaign group Mums for Lungs, which was established in 2017 when a group of parents walking around South London with small babies became aware of the toxic levels of air pollution on London's streets.
Detectives investigating an assault in Bowes Road, N11 at 13:30hrs on Friday, 26 June, which has left a man in a critical condition, are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
On 24th June Healthwatch Enfield organised an online question and answer session with senior staff from the North Middlesex and Royal Free/Chase Farm hospitals. The entire session was recorded. A long video (one hour), but filled with useful and interesting information. Subject matter includes how the hospitals coped during the acute phase of the Covid-19 outbreak, how they are continuing to provide infection control and how services are gradually being restored.
On 8th July a large police contingent used an armoured truck to break into a fortified site at Crews Hill. Three men are in custody, charged with modern slavery offences, and 11 adult victims are being cared for. A report on the Metropolitan Police website describes how to spot signs of possible modern slavery.
Ever since the news slipped out in March that the museum and local studies service would be losing their current accommodation in the Dugdale Centre, the Enfield Society has been seeking information and reassurances about their future location and accessibility. A letter to the council leader has gone unanswered, and the Society is now asking members and other residents to write to the leader, council officers and local councillors.
Enfield Council's revised plans for the Fox Lane quieter neighbourhood, which were published today, will dramatically reduce traffic and associated pollution, noise and road danger over a large area of residential streets stretching from Palmers Green to Southgate. Subject to approval by the deputy council leader, the proposals will be implemented on a trial basis for six months starting this summer.
