A new art course from Enfield & Southgate WEA begins after half-term, when Colin Lomas will be looking at Baroque and Rococo art to show the impact of the political, social and religious changes in art and architecture between 1600 and 1800.
Just under a quarter of care homes and nursing homes in the London Borough of Enfield experienced an outbreak of Covid-19 during the first wave. This is one of the findings of a report published by Healthwatch Enfield which looks at the impact of the Coronavirus on the borough's 89 care, nursing and assisted living homes. The report is based on a survey of staff, patients and residents' relatives carried out in August and September.

Enfield Council's proposals for Liveable Neighbourhoods improvements to Enfield Town will make walking around the Town much easier and safer. Disabled people will benefit from 14 new blue badge bays. For those visiting or passing through by bike, there will be through cycle routes, mainly taking the form of protected lanes, but they will not go along the main part of Church Street. Public spaces will be enhanced.

Making History is a Lottery-funded project designed to encourage young people to express their emotions and experiences relating to COVID-19 and the London lockdown. The statutory consultation for the Fox Lane low-traffic neighbourhood trial is now under way and comments can be submitted online or by post. People can comment more than once. The trial is initially due to last for six months, but if modified might be prolonged. On the other hand, it could be stopped before six months is up, as has occurred in some other boroughs. The council has made it clear that - despite claims to the contrary on social media - the emergency services have not objected, but if they do raise any issues during the trial the scheme will be suitably modified.
Biodiversity is declining globally but one option for helping to reverse this issue is to improve natural spaces in cities for wildlife. This research project is exploring ways in which people perceive nature-based solutions to urban planning problems so that we can better enhance cities for people and nature.
