As has been the case on second Sundays for a good few years, on 14th May the Food Gatherer will be running a farmers' market at Forty Hall Farm. But a novelty this month will be a new climate-friendly and family-friendly way of getting there.
The Family Bike Club is organising a ride up to Forty Hall from their base next to Enfield Chase Station, using a quiet low-traffic route. It will be led by David Hilliard, a highly experienced cycling instructor and cycle ride marshal.
If you don't have your own bike (or if you'd prefer to travel to Enfield Chase by train and bike the rest of the way), you can hire one of the Family Bike Club's varied collection.
The riders will leave Enfield Chase station at 10am. There will be two return rides, at Noon and at 3pm.
No sticks, just carrots!
As an incentive to younger riders to join the journey to the market, the organisers will be literally offering carrots - a bag of organic carrots, in fact, complete with accompanying sticker, will await them at Forty Hall.
