Enfield Council has launched a new consultation to gauge views about events held in the borough's parks. Responses will guide the drafting of a Park Events Strategy document covering the period 2017 to 2022.
The Palmers Green Festival - one of the most successful events in an Enfield park, but probably also one of the least disruptive to park goers and nearby residentsA brief introduction and link to the online survey can be found on the Council website. The deadline for responses is Tuesday 17th January 2017.
Questions relate to the following:
- The classification of events as "small", "medium", "large" and "major" events depending on the number of visitors per day
- Whether there should be a limit on the number of major and large events and what that limit should be
- Whether there should be a minimum 2-weekend gap between any two major events
- Whether to charge event organisers fees for set up and clear down days for “major events” and penalise organisers who overrun
- Whether to continue to charge organisers of major events an environmental fee, the proceeds from which are reinvested into parks
- Whether to set longer deadlines for event applications
- Whether to require organisers of non-licensable large or major events to notify all adjacent residents in writing a minimum of 28 days in advance of the event
- Whether there should be separate processes for events on "village greens" (Chase Green, Southgate Green, and The Green in Winchmore Hill)
