tile kiln lane school streetEnfield's first two School Streets went into operation on Monday 24th February. Photographs taken on that day in Tile Kiln Lane show pupils from Oakthorpe School strolling along in the middle of the road, free of the usual daily noise, noxious emissions and danger from cars.

The other School Street launched last week is in Cannon Road N14, for St Monica's School.

Enfield Council has already had many expressions of interest from other schools which would like to set up similar schemes and it is likely that a total of five schools will be operational by the summer of 2020. If you or your school is interested in getting involved, read the guidance on how to get started.

More details here. These are just the start of Enfield's schools street programme. (Photos from a Facebook post by Klimi Nunes.)

Has anyone enquired with the residents of Conway Road as to how "successful" the St Monica's school street has been?

Any empirical evidence to suggest a change in car use by parents getting their kids to school??
