The planning application for construction of 162 flats on the Arnos Grove station car parks has now been submitted. The various documents can be viewed on the Enfield Council Planning Portal - reference 20/01049/FUL.
The application has been made on behalf of Connected Living London, which is a partnership between Transport for London (TfL) and Grainger plc, the UK’s largest listed provider of private rental homes. The intention is to provide quality homes for Londoners, whilst also generating revenue, which TfL will invest in the capital’s transport network.
The development would be car-free, providing car parking spaces for blue badge holders and London Underground staff only. Currently, there are 297 general purpose parking spaces.
The design brief for Arnos Grove was as follows:
- Provide a minimum of 150 residential units;
- 40 per cent of residential units (by habitable room) to be affordable;
- A mix of 1, 2 and 3 bed homes;
- 2,000 sq ft internal and external managed amenity space;
- Car free scheme with the exception of 3 per cent Residential blue badge spaces with passive provision for a further 7 per cent;
- One car club bay (off site) and electric charging points to be provided;
- Re-provision of six existing blue badge spaces associated with the station;
- 10 staff car parking spaces relating to LUL operational activity to be retained on the site.
The application envisages buildings up to seven storeys high.
