The Enfield Dispatch website carries a report by Local Democracy Reporter Simon Allin on a petition against the housing development organised by the Cockfosters Local Area Residents Association (Clara).

The report also points out that while the Federation of Enfield Residents Associations has claimed that "Hundreds of commuters dependent on parking to access the Piccadilly Line will be displaced", Transport for London's surveys suggest that closing the car park could actually reduce traffic driving in from Hertfordshire and parking at Cockfosters:

"Three-quarters of people who use Cockfosters Station car park travel in from outside the M25, with less than a fifth coming from Enfield and Barnet. Around 95% of car park users have a rail station closer to their home than Cockfosters."

Great to see TFL standing up to the NIMBYs with some hard data. Get it built and stop letting BANANAS halt progress and stifle opportunity for others.

I vote for a new rule that if you introduce words such as BANANAS you are obliged to explain them

HAHA whoops, sorry Karl, though I did enjoy Colin's TINA explanation which was a new one for me!

Build
Absolutely
Nothing
Anywhere
Near
Anything

Basically it's the 20th century NIMBY on steroids as suffered these days.
