Question 1. What do think is good about the area?
Great outdoor area with 2 wonderful parks – Broomfield Park & Grovelands Park, good primary schools and good transport links to Central London.
Question 2. What do you think is less good about the area?
The amount of tacky shops on the high street (e.g. betting shops, too many charity shops and most recently a cash/gold converter shop), very dirty pavements, gangs with dogs hanging around especially the Triangle area and Broomfield Park.
Question 3. What would you like to see to improve the area?
- A better and more family-friendly high street with more variety of shops, independent run shops like delis, cafes with kids activities like pottery, etc. A cleaner high street and free car park facilities to attract customers to the high street.
Question 4a. Specific aspects – traffic
Due to the high number of accidents, protected right turn signals should be introduced to the traffic lights at Green Lanes/hedge lane/Bourne Hill Junction and also pedestrian lights should be introduced. We need more one way streets as there are a lot of angry disputes and traffic backs up when people do not give way. It does not mean that people will drive faster if we have one way streets as most drivers rush down the streets to get there first.

The high street should offer free car park or reduced car park fees to boost business in the area and to reduce residencial street congestion.

We need a driver-led cleaning machines on the streets – the high street and the residential streets are quite dirty.
Question 4d. Specific aspects – look of the shops/architecture
It would be nice to keep the original facades of the shops but in most cases they are all gone and unfortunately they all need to have shutters these days due to vandalism.
Question 4e. Specific aspacts – type and range of shops
Probably the rent of shops are high and it seems that the only type of business which is proliferating on our high street is attracting the wrong type of people in this area. It is mostly a family area and our high street definitely does not reflect that – maybe if independent business have some kind of rent subsidyvthings might change for better.
Question 4f. Specific aspects – amount and use of pavement space
Pavement space is fine but need to be properly maintained.
Question 4g. Specific aspects – the Triangle public space
The public toilets should be opened and we should pay to use them. We miss a real tree there!
