Question 1. What do think is good about the area?
My family loves the public library in Palmers Green, we go there all the time. The children’s section is really nice with seating for young children and access to the toilet it makes it an ideal place to take little ones especially when the weather is not so good outside.
Question 2. What do you think is less good about the area?
It is very difficult to access local shops if you are in the car on the way from school. You then go to shops that will give you parking eg Sainsbury’s in Winchmore Hill. It is possible to shop at Morrisons and park there but I also want to shop at Waitrose or the local green grocers but can only do so if I am on foot. This is not always possible with young children and shopping.
Question 3. What would you like to see to improve the area?
The library would benefit from redecoration particularly painting of the walls and new carpet.
Question 4a. Specific aspects – traffic
There is always traffic in and around Palmers Green town however it seems to move along quickly. Traffic no longer backing up from North Circular as road works finished has helped alleviate traffic in town.
Question 4b. Specific aspects – parking
Paying for short term parking is not good we don’t always have the right change and if I put in £1 it still only gives me 15 minutes and this is not fair.
I would like to see paying for parking replaced with FREE short term parking eg 20 mins no return within two hours.
I would like resident parking permitted areas to be replaced with eg no parking within hours 11-12 so that we can park if we need to pop to the shops.
Question 4d. Specific aspects – look of the shops/architecture
The architecture of old buildings in Palmers Green is very attractive and the Council has ensure that many new builds are in keeping with this however the new building replacing Cecil Court opposite the Palmers Green Library is not in my opinion although I am sure we will just get used to it.
Question 4e. Specific aspacts – type and range of shops
The new 2 bed apartment complex between the railway bridge and The new Waitrose is fantastic because we no longer have to travel to Southgate to M&S or Enfield for Waitrose.
The Baskerville’s Tea Shop on Alderman’s Hill because it has a play area for children
Question 4f. Specific aspects – amount and use of pavement space
Pavements could be better but generally have not observed specific problems
Question 4g. Specific aspects – the Triangle public space
