We reported a while back about the call from the Royal Voluntary Service (RVS - formerly the WRVS) for new volunteers to deliver library books to homes - a replacement for the mobile library service.
The RVS volunteers will deliver books and audio materials to older and disabled people who find it difficult to visit a library. Volunteers will need their own transport and will be required for approximately four hours a week. However, if you don't have your own car there will.......
For the third year running All Saints Church in Edmonton will be hosting the Lamb Festival, celebrating local literary celebrities Charles and Mary Lamb.
The Festival will run from Saturday 18th June to Friday 24th June, starting with a Fair on the Saturday afternoon. Tributes have been paid to former Enfield Council leader Jeff Rodin, who died last weekend at the age of 65.
Mr Rodin served as a councillor representing Bowes ward for 24 years and was Council Leader between 1994 and 1999. After retirement he continued to work for the community at Enfield Citizens Advice Bureau and Enfield Community Transport. He was a campaigner against the "austerity" policies pursued by the current and preceding governments, co-founding the Enfield Alliance.......

There have recently been many complaints about the seeming impossibility of getting through to Enfield Council by phone. At the next meeting of the Winchmore Hill Ward Forum the Interim Assistant Director for Transformation will be present to answer questions and there will be a report from the Head of Electronic Channels – Gateway Services on the call centre.

The Friends of Arnos Park are running a photographic competition. The best picture illustrating "The Joys of Arnos Park" will win an Amazon voucher worth £25.

This conference at Enfield’s Dugdale Centre on Friday 8 April left me feeling both inspired and daunted – inspired because we were shown what is possible and already being done in the Netherlands – and daunted because Enfield has such a long way to go.

During April the theme for the Spirals of Life exhibition in Broomfield Conservatory is Bamboo and Grass. "Botanical sculptures" created by Cathy Taylor and June Dawes can be seen nestling among the normal plants in the flower beds.
