Friends of Broomfield Park in collaboration with Bourne Hill Care invite you to the ART IS exhibition, which showcases the powerful expressions of some unique artists who are in care in our community. The exhibition is open daily until the end of August at the Southgate Club in Chase Side (near Southgate Station).

The Friends of Broomfield Park (FoBP) have been holding weekly art sessions for the special residents in our community who are under the care of Bourne Hill Care and Queen Anne Home. This project has offered a unique opportunity to everyone who attended the sessions by enabling a therapeutic release of emotions, high engagement level through empathy, and a seamless and meaningful inclusion in the community for adults normally perceived as different from all of us. The Southgate Gallery decided to join forces with the FOBP in this project and has helped organised this exhibition that not only showcases the beauty and power of artistic expression, but also deeply empowers the participants.
The exhibition is a celebration of both the art and the caring that went into its creation, fostering a more empathetic and supportive community.
The Artists: The artists found a secured space at the FOBP art club to see beyond the perceived parameters of their impairment (be it intellectual, physical or cognitive). They were able to self-reflect and deal with their emotions through images and colours. The art pieces that have emerged are from their heart and pure, unique to their own way of thinking.
In summary, people who think differently bring invaluable diversity and innovation to the art world. Their unique perspectives and deep emotional insights contribute to art that is both impactfitl and original.
Community spirit is fostered when businesses actively enhance the lives of people in care by creating meaningful opportunities for them to engage with the community. This goes beyond simply donating to charity; it demonstrates a genuine commitment to making a positive impact. This approach shows that businesses operate with heart and purpose.
So, if you are a professional artist and interested in doing your bit for the community by sharing your exhibition with one of our special artists, please get in touch with the Southgate Club.
Bourne Hill Care Home
Bourne Hill Care Home, a residential unit under Bourne Hill Care, is home to five neurodivergent clients.
Bourne Hill Care is dedicated to promoting the overall wellbeing of the residents through a holistic approach to care.
With a carefully curated programme of meaningful activities, the focus is on helping residents live fully rather than just exist, empowering them to actively participate in the community.
Art plays a central role in this program due to its therapeutic benefits and its positive impact on personal development. The upcoming gallery exhibition is a shared dream for both the residents and Bourne Hill Care, showcasing the profound effects of art on their lives.
