Guests watch as the Mayor of Enfield, Cllr Doris Jiagge, opens the 2022 Enfield Art Circle annual exhibition
On Friday 30th July the Mayor of Enfield, Cllr Doris Jiagge, performed the opening ceremony for the 2022 annual exhibition organised by Enfield Art Circle.
The Mayor of Enfield with the Art Circle's oldest member, 92-year-old Laurence Welby. Laurence joined the Circle in the 1960s.
After two years during which the annual exhibition was online only, the Art Circle was able to return to Capel Manor Gardens to celebrate its 90th anniversary - the first exhibition was held at Pearson's department store in 1932.
The exhibition will continue until 13th August. More than 170 original works from local artists are on display, many of them for sale. The show includes work in a range of different mediums, including oil, watercolour, acrylic, gouache and mixed media, as well as sculpture and ceramics.
This year's exhibition also joins the entries from 2020 and 2021 online - though even the best computer screen won't compare with seeing the originals!
