st harmonicas onlineMissing Friday nights at the Southgate Club listening to the great bands playing at St Harmonica's? Well, we can't do anything about the lockdown, but we can do our best to recreate St Harmonica's in the comfort of your own home. So pour yourself a glass of beer, move the furniture aside to make yourself a dance floor, click on the first of the music videos below and start a text conversation with some of the people you usually meet up with at the club.

Friday 10th April

This week's St Harmonica's Online was compiled by Dave Thomas and features two bands that would have been playing at the club but for the Coronavirus, plus videos of some of the musicians from the New Orleans area who inspired our local bands.

"In normal times you would have been able to enjoy Jamie Rowan’s Boogie Lightnin’ and Tim Penn and the Second Line on the last two Fridays in March. What they have in common is both bands are piano led, drawing their inspiration from the rich legacy of the New Orleans piano greats. In the case of Jamie Rowan’s evening there wouldn’t have been a guitar in sight.

"This week’s playlist starts with numbers from Jamie and Tim and then takes you to some examples of wonderful piano led music that we hope you will enjoy and possibly explore further."

Watch it by clicking on the videos below, or go to the YouTube playlist.
