Prizes of up to £1000 are being offered to artists living in Enfield or Haringey for an artwork which illustrates what life in the two boroughs might be like if environmental improvements had been made.
The competition is being run by Enfield and Haringey Green Parties in conjunction with Collage Arts. The challenge they are setting is to create art that depicts, embodies, or expresses what it could be like in Enfield and Haringey if one or more of the questions below were to be answered in the positive.
- Traffic: What would it be like in Haringey and Enfield if there was less traffic and more bicycle routes?
- Housing: What would it be like in Haringey and Enfield if rents were affordable for local people?
- Incomes: What would it be like in Haringey and Enfield if poor people weren’t so poor and rich people weren’t so rich?
- Air Pollution: What would it be like in Haringey and Enfield if the air was cleaner?
- Climate Change: What would it be like in Haringey and Enfield if more of our energy came from renewable sources and there were fewer diesel and petrol vehicles on the road?
- Policing: What would it be like in Haringey and Enfield if the police worked more closely with the community in setting local priorities and more community police officers were recruited locally?
There are three prizes: £1000, £500 and a special prize of £250 for people aged under 25. Entries will go on show at the Karamel Gallery in the Chocolate Factory, Coburg Road, Wood Green from 13th April to 20th May. The prize giving ceremony will be held on 15th April.
