New artworks at Enfield Chase station drawing inspiration from local history were officially unveiled on 28th September.

Enfield Chase platform mural by Kremena Dimitrova

The artworks, which were co-created with local children and communities, comprise a "whimsical" mural by Kremena Dimitrova entitled The Charter of the Forest: There is a Magical Place for the Lure of History (shown above) and three digital artworks by Shaypress - Windows into the Past.

The project to commission and install the artworks was managed by Enfield Chase Station Partners (led by Dave Cockle) and John Cole, both of the Enfield Society. It was enabled by a grant from the Department for Transport as part of the Your Station, Your Community Improvement Fund, delivered locally by Great Northern.

More details about the inspiration for the artworks (the mural represents a "journey through time" - and not just historical time, as studying it should help pass the time waiting when your train is cancelled) and how they were developed can be read on the Enfield Society website.

The highly recommended Ian Visits website has a write-up of the new artworks at Enfield Chase station and some photographs, from one of which it's clear quite how big Kremena Dimitrova's mural is. As I said before, it has a tremendous amount of detail which you can study when your train's been cancelled.
