Tributes have been paid to former Enfield Council leader Jeff Rodin, who died last weekend at the age of 65.
Mr Rodin served as a councillor representing Bowes ward for 24 years and was Council Leader between 1994 and 1999. After retirement he continued to work for the community at Enfield Citizens Advice Bureau and Enfield Community Transport. He was a campaigner against the "austerity" policies pursued by the current and preceding governments, co-founding the Enfield Alliance Against the Cuts in 2011.
Paying tribute, the Alliance's Chairman, Chris Kaufman, said that "Jeff combined a deep humanity with an astute understanding of society which he translated into positive practical politics. He was a great man to have on your side and sprang to the defence of the dispossessed and vulnerable."
