new trees being planted out on enfield chase

With spring looking like it's going to arrive early, the tree planting season is nearly at an end, but there are still 8000 trees waiting to be planted as part of this year's contribution to the Enfield Chase Restoration Project, so Thames 21 have issued an urgent call for volunteers to help with the planting programme. The sessions run from Saturday 26th February (tomorrow) to Saturday 12th March.

Hello,

thames21 logoSpring appears to be coming very early this year, with some trees already unfurling their leaf buds and even showing blossom. As this happens, the opportunity to plant trees comes to a close, as they leave their dormant state and the chances of surviving the planting process reduces.

At the Restoration of Enfield Chase project we still have 8,000 trees to plant, and two weeks left to get them in the ground. Unfortunately the numbers of volunteers registered on the final events is very low, and we’re worried that we might not succeed in planting those final trees.

So if you would like to plant a few trees before the planting season ends, please have a look at the following list of events (all in the Enfield area), and see if you’d like to join us. Any help would be very much appreciated!

Each date is a link to the registration page, and you can find full details on www.thames21.org.uk/natural-flood-management/trees

Kind regards,
