Enjoyed the 2024 PG Festival? Let the organisers know what went well and what less well
When the last newsletter was published at the end of August, the headline was the imminent Palmers Green Festival. That was four weeks ago, but, if you haven't already done so, the Friends of Broomfield Park are asking you to cast your mind back to that sunny afternoon and let them know what you liked about the Festival and what you thought could be improved.

The Pymmes BrookERS, a volunteer-run river action group, respond to concerns voiced about a project under consideration that would change the course and appearance of the Pymmes Brook as it flows through Arnos Park.

"Flourishing libraries support flourishing communities": Forum joins call to stop library closures
The Enfield Over 50s Forum has added its voice to the campaign against Enfield Council's proposals to close eight smaller libraries, including Southgate, Bowes Road, Winchmore Hill and Oakwood. It has launched a petition calling on the council to instead make use of community libraries to 'protect, serve and strengthen' the boroughâs neighbourhoods and communities.

Bowes East Quieter Neighbourhood: Statutory consultation begins
The design of the Bowes East Quieter Neighbourhood project has now been finalised and the statutory consultation phase is running from 25th September until 20th October.
The council is now planning to ban right turns out of Grenoble Gardens into Green Lanes during the afternoon/evening rush hour. This will be implemented by an experimental traffic order, meaning that it will be trialled and then consulted on.

Calling local artists, artisans and craftspeople: Sell your work at the PG Library Art Fair
Palmers Green Library is inviting local artists to exhibit and sell their work at an art fair on Saturday 26th October. The deadline for applying to take part is Sunday 29th September.

Coming soon to Southgate: A classic pre-war Californian dance craze
Starting on 9th October and every second Wednesday after that, the Southgate Club will be the venue for a monthly night celebrating a dance that originated in California in the late 1920s - and the dancers get to choose the music!

Learn to speak Italian
A new course in Italian for beginners starts at the Ruth Winson Community Centre on 3rd October. Classes will be on Thursdays at 12pm and cost only ÂŁ6 a lesson.
