A new chapter for the Woodman

Fears that Palmers Green was losing another of its small number of pubs were dispelled this week when an upmarket chain that now owns the Woodman announced that it is to be extensively refurbished and will reopen next year.

This weekend: The return of Broomfield Blues

It's August, which means that for the next four Sunday afternoons the bandstand in Broomfield Park will be occupied by musicians playing the Blues, courtesy of St Harmonica's Blues Club.

The music starts at 1.30 and continues until 5.30pm, and there'll be food and drink on sale. If you just want to sit and listen, it won't cost you anything, though you will be invited to put some money in the "hat" that will be circulating.

Reported hit and run incident on Wednesday afternoon

I received reports from contacts on WhatsApp between 2pm and 3pm this afternoon about an alleged hit-and-run incident near the Triangle. It seems that the driver of a black Mercedes travelling north along Green Lanes and said to be speeding collided with two delivery riders, both of whom were taken to hospital, at least one of them seriously injured. The driver reportedly did not stop but continued up Aldermans Hill.
