 cooking champions open kitchen

Enfield's first community kitchen has opened in a disused church in Ponders End. Initially, it will be open one day a week, providing free food, utensils, hobs and ovens to people who cannot afford to buy food or to turn on their cookers.

202211 cooking champions diwali menuAn appeal by Cooking Champions to raise £15,000 to launch the kitchen was successful and the kitchen opened last Friday. Clients will be able to use a wide range of fresh food and dry goods, be provided with a starter pack comprising an apron, contains and notepad, will be able to spend two and a half hours cooking and will have access to expert cooking advice.

The kitchen and ingredients are completely free to local residents.

For more information about the project and about how you can contribute financially, see the links below.

The opening of the new facility in the east of the borough does not mean the end of Cooking Champions activities in Grange Park. On 4th November it will be launching a new series of monthly pop-up restaurants at St Peter's Church Hall. The first theme will be Diwali - see the PGC events pages for full information.
